Parents' Club Programs

In addition to providing major funding to support OUSD classroom curriculum and services, Del Rey Parents' Club is responsible for an extensive array of programs and services to supplement students' daily education, provide campus and safety improvements, and promote meaningful communication between the staff, parents, OUSD and the Orinda community.

Other Parents Club programs are summarized below.


Extracurricular Classes - A wide variety classes are offered, scheduled and coordinated by Parents Club volunteers.

Student Council - Student representatives from fourth and fifth grade partner with a teacher and parent volunteer to help bring about meaningful school change.

Think First is the Orinda Union School District's program that builds the foundation for good character development, social and emotional intelligence in our children. The lessons teach children to think about their own and others' feelings, to solve problems cooperatively, and to manage their emotions in a positive way. Learn more here.


Helping Hands - Helping Hands is a group of volunteers who assist Del Rey families in times of need, such as a new baby, hospitalization, or serious illness.

Hospitality - Parents Club Hospitality volunteers provide monthly appreciation luncheons for the Del Rey staff. They also contribute by providing baked goods and refreshments for events throughout the school year.

Newcomers - Parent volunteers help to make new families and students feel welcome at Del Rey School. An annual Newcomers event is held early in the school year, providing a great way to meet other Del Rey parents. 


Del Rey Doings - An information and announcement e-mail published each Friday by Parents' Club volunteers and the school staff.

Directory - Del Rey's phone directory is published in the fall by the Parents' Club

Web Site - The Del Rey school web site now combines the school site and the Parents' Club site. Visit the Del Rey School web site for important information about our school. The new site is password protected from the public.

School Calendar - Listing all the important dates throughout the school year, including meetings, special functions and the school schedule.


Dolphin Club - This is Del Rey's before- and after-school care program, overseen by the Dolphin Club Advisory Committee of Parents Club members.

Dolphin Deli Lunch Program - Coordinated and served by parent volunteers, the lunch program is a favorite of the students as well as being an important fundraiser.

Garden - Volunteers maintain and nurture the plants as well as our children by working with teachers to provide opportunity to learn through an exploration of plants, growth and gardening.

Room Parents - Room parents organize classroom parties, assist and support the classroom teacher, and coordinate class project donations for the annual Del Rey auction fundraiser.

School Site Council - Parents Club Board members meet monthly with Del Rey staff members to develop and implement the School Site Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan defines funding priorities at Del Rey, which must also respond to OUSD Strategic Plan objectives.


Emergency Response - Parents Club volunteers work with Del Rey and District staff to develop the school emergency Response Plan. These volunteers coordinate emergency drills throughout the year, ensure emergency supplies are stocked.

Health & Safety - Volunteers coordinate the fall blood drive and TB screening held early each school year.
